hey all,
tomorrow, friday the 27th at 2pm EST, ill be selling copies of both the poster for At The Drive-In’s hometown reunion show earlier this month and the American Horror Story panel at Paleyfest 2012. as well, i made one of those Tumblr things, and you can go to it.

NEW PRINTS!

official poster for At The Drive In reunion in El Paso, TX. april 13th, 2012
15×30” 5-color screenprint, signed & numbered artists edition of 100. $60
this is based off the infamous “classroom show” bootleg of the band from the late 90s, which until the era of youtube, was only available through dubbed VHS tapes purchased by sending actual cash in an envelope to a weird dude on the internet whos name was like PuNkGuYVHS69@aol.com along with a list of which bootlegs you wanted dubbed to your tape. paypal saw there was some money to be made from this, so then they started up and squashed decades of mailorder tradition. anyways, nowadays i can just link you to it.

12×24″ 5-color screenprint, signed & numbered AP edition of 50. $40
anyone whos caught American Horror Story knows that its a little out there, and its heavy on the atmosphere given the house is pretty much the star of the show. accordingly, its right up my alley. for what its worth, this is probably my favorite use of the figure as the lightsource ive ever pulled off.

TUMBLR
due to the insistence of people more up on the technologicals and socialmediatations, and out of a general frustration of ‘twit-tar’s limitations, i made one of them ‘tum-blar’ things. tinymediaempire.tumblr.com

JUST LIKE BEING THERE in BOSTON
this sunday evening Just Like Being There will be screening as part of the Boston Independent Film Festival. I’ll be there. you can sit next to me, but stay away from my popcorn. no spoilers, i dunno how it ends. more info at IFFBoston2012

Presented by Newbury Comics It’s been said that writing about music is like dancing about architecture. Still, apart from forming a band, how does one best express the passion and emotion of being at a live show? For a growing number of artists, the answer is to create silkscreened posters. After all, the handcrafting of these pieces is analogous to the hauling of gear, and the smell of the ink is like the smell of stale beer at the clubs. The work is so symbiotic that fans of bands like Arcade Fire, The Black Keys, The White Stripes, and Death Cab for Cutie are as avid about collecting their gig posters as they are about attending the gigs themselves. In Scout Shannon’s absorbing documentary, we embark on a voyage to meet the key talent in the growing community creating screen-printed posters for the indie music scene. Their works of modern folk art not only promote bands, but stand as vibrant reminders of the performances’ ephemeral nature. Like the shows they commemorate, the posters don’t last: after the initial run is sold, there are no more. The story of gig posters would be incomplete without the gigs, and JUST LIKE BEING THERE supplies riveting performances by Tokyo Police Club, Archers of Loaf, and others. Shannon nimbly balances the movement’s context, from its inception, with an introduction to the pantheon of the industry’s most talented artists. This portrait reveals that, although these passionate individuals were initially inspired by others’ works, they and their pieces stand for a unique creative vision. —Brian Tamm

END OF THE UPDATE
ok, thats about it for now. ill be releasing a new art print early in may, im just finishing up some tweaks and such on it and then ill share the details with everyone. im pretty gosh darn proud of it.
xo,
These artists are at the forefront of an expansion of the gig poster genre. MONDO’s reinvigoration of “the film poster as an art form,” and Gallery 1988’s theme based exhibits are only two ways in which this artwork is reaching a greater public.
hey everyone. heres a new poster i did for CBSfilms ‘The Woman In Black’, which will be in theaters in early Feb. its a 24×36″ 5 color screenprint. i was excited to see the movie from the first trailer i saw a few months back, so when they asked me to do a poster, i was right on board. i’ve seen the movie and its incredibly up my alley and i think people are gonna really enjoy it. its not a modern horror movie, it feels classically ’spoken ghost story’ in its pacing and narrative, which is really sort of refreshing. plus, i want to live in that house. i will have copies for sale on my site at 2pm EST on February 3rd, the day the movie opens. there might also be some chances to win a copy on a few websites, so cruise around in the next few days.

also! my paper lanterns are finally back in stock at Rotofugi. the first batch sold out rather quickly, and i sort of forgot to tell you all that more had finally arrived. http://www.rotofugi.com/toyscart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=9160 they are $12 apiece with an optional $7 light kit. as mentioned there, those blue 25 watt party bulbs look awesome in these. way better than a bright white bulb.

ok, im feeling a bit under the weather, so im gonna crawl into bed and try to get an early start tomorrow.

NEW SHIPPING POLICY: PLEASE TAKE NOTE

I’ve had a pretty weird year in regards to international orders, and have eaten it pretty hard on lost orders, so we have to make and state some actual policies.
For International Customers: For large expensive orders ($100-200+) or particularly rare prints, I will insure the order with Stamps.com/USPS against loss or damage at my own cost and my own discretion to protect myself. If your order is lost or damaged, I will file a claim and replace the prints. Insurance requires that the full value of the order be marked on the customs form, matched to the insurance form. The two numbers must be the same.
-We will add insurance if we think we need it. If we choose not to insure your order, and it gets damaged, I’ll work with you to get you a replacement.
-If for your own reasons, you choose to waive insurance on an international order, please email orders@tinymediaempire.com before or IMMEDIATELY after placing your order. If you specifically choose to waive insurance on an international order, TME is NOT RESPONSIBLE if your order gets lost or damaged, and will NOT replace it.
sound fair? YUP. IT IS.

UNCHARTED 3: DRAKES DECEPTION
i beat this game tonight. i don’t beat many video games, so i felt this note was warranted. im aware its not that hard of a game, but i bested it.

DEVIL TOWN @ GALLERY1988

Recently, Gallery1988 offered me the chance to curate my own show in their space. I wanted to do something that was more about environment and atmosphere; rural and distant suburbs, dead farmlands, quiet and dark towns, lampposts, convenience stores, high school bleachers, teenage suburban escapism, abandoned industry, etc. Generally the opposite of more defined ‘urban art’ conventions. The most suburban thing I could think of was waiting for someone in the parking lot of a Pizza Hut. If you’ve never experienced that, I don’t think you and I will ever truly be friends. The show opens Dec 2nd at their melrose location. I will have three new prints for sale at his show, and provided the paint gods are merciful, a painting or two. please click the link below for MORE DETAILS AND LINEUP!

hey all,
I’m currently driving home from Chicago. at the moment im in a hotel in toledo really not wanting to move. my show at Rotofugi opened on friday night and i couldn’t have asked for it to have gone better. despite a lot of rough starts, im extremely pleased with my work for this opening, which represented for me a series of experiments in approach, medium, and size. by miles and miles its the best looking installation ive done. which, and lets be honest, is easy when you have a space thats as beautiful as the new Rotofugi gallery. we had paper lanterns made which we filled the place with, and even got a little experimental with the lighting. etc etc, check out the photos. huge thanks to kirby, whitney, and david at Rotofugi for getting all this together (and answering the endless sea of emails).

hey all,
back from San Diego Comic Con where i debuted two new posters for Mondo at their booth. Jon Favreau picked me to do a poster for Cowboys & Aliens, which can be seen above. theres more information as well as a process video over at the LA Times article on the series.

They sold out at SDCC, and Mondo just sold out their copies and the wood varients, so all thats left is the few i have myself to sell. Keep your eye on my facebook page for a more timely update as to when that will be.

EDIT: THESE ARE UP NOW.
