The Woman In Black

wibfinal-small3sig

hey everyone. heres a new poster i did for CBSfilms ‘The Woman In Black’, which will be in theaters in early Feb. its a 24×36″ 5 color screenprint. i was excited to see the movie from the first trailer i saw a few months back, so when they asked me to do a poster, i was right on board. i’ve seen the movie and its incredibly up my alley and i think people are gonna really enjoy it. its not a modern horror movie, it feels classically ’spoken ghost story’ in its pacing and narrative, which is really sort of refreshing. plus, i want to live in that house. i will have copies for sale on my site at 2pm EST on February 3rd, the day the movie opens. there might also be some chances to win a copy on a few websites, so cruise around in the next few days.

also! my paper lanterns are finally back in stock at Rotofugi. the first batch sold out rather quickly, and i sort of forgot to tell you all that more had finally arrived. http://www.rotofugi.com/toyscart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=9160   they are $12 apiece with an optional $7 light kit. as mentioned there, those blue 25 watt party bulbs look awesome in these. way better than a bright white bulb.

ok, im feeling a bit under the weather, so im gonna crawl into bed and try to get an early start tomorrow.
night night!

hey all,
ive had the same tiny box fan for about 15 years, it is currently drying some washes on a painting im finishing for a show im doing this coming weekend. it is one of the most long standing things in my life, short of a tiny bear figure i keep in my car. it took quite the tumble tonight but after some fenagaling, its a-ok.

NEW SHIPPING POLICY: PLEASE TAKE NOTE

I’ve had a pretty weird year in regards to international orders, and have eaten it pretty hard on lost orders, so we have to make and state some actual policies.
For International Customers: For large expensive orders ($100-200+) or particularly rare prints, I will insure the order with Stamps.com/USPS against loss or damage at my own cost and my own discretion to protect myself. If your order is lost or damaged, I will file a claim and replace the prints. Insurance requires that the full value of the order be marked on the customs form, matched to the insurance form. The two numbers must be the same.
-We will add insurance if we think we need it. If we choose not to insure your order, and it gets damaged, I’ll work with you to get you a replacement.
-If for your own reasons, you choose to waive insurance on an international order, please email orders@tinymediaempire.com before or IMMEDIATELY after placing your order. If you specifically choose to waive insurance on an international order, TME is NOT RESPONSIBLE if your order gets lost or damaged, and will NOT replace it.
sound fair? YUP. IT IS.

UNCHARTED 3: DRAKES DECEPTION
i beat this game tonight. i don’t beat many video games, so i felt this note was warranted. im aware its not that hard of a game, but i bested it.

DEVIL TOWN @ GALLERY1988

Recently, Gallery1988 offered me the chance to curate my own show in their space. I wanted to do something that was more about environment and atmosphere; rural and distant suburbs, dead farmlands, quiet and dark towns, lampposts, convenience stores, high school bleachers, teenage suburban escapism, abandoned industry, etc. Generally the opposite of more defined ‘urban art’ conventions. The most suburban thing I could think of was waiting for someone in the parking lot of a Pizza Hut. If you’ve never experienced that, I don’t think you and I will ever truly be friends. The show opens Dec 2nd at their melrose location. I will have three new prints for sale at his show, and provided the paint gods are merciful, a painting or two. please click the link below for MORE DETAILS AND LINEUP!

hey all! theres a fairly substantial multipage feature on me in the newest issue of Hi Fructose magazine. Its the one with the Andrew Hem cover, whos article follows mine. which is awesome, by the way, because Andrew has easily been my favorite current painter the last few years. i actually got distracted from reading my article by his. either way! go pick it up.

(ps. thanks for the borrowed photo jesse.)

you have a wanderlust growing in your bones

hey all,
I’m currently driving home from Chicago. at the moment im in a hotel in toledo really not wanting to move. my show at Rotofugi opened on friday night and i couldn’t have asked for it to have gone better. despite a lot of rough starts, im extremely pleased with my work for this opening, which represented for me a series of experiments in approach, medium, and size. by miles and miles its the best looking installation ive done. which, and lets be honest, is easy when you have a space thats as beautiful as the new Rotofugi gallery. we had paper lanterns made which we filled the place with, and even got a little experimental with the lighting. etc etc, check out the photos. huge thanks to kirby, whitney, and david at Rotofugi for getting all this together (and answering the endless sea of emails).

For Sale Monday May 1st, 2-3PM EST. One of each per person per household.

Hey all, later today (monday) I’m putting up my copies of my poster for THE WALKING DEAD series on AMC, which was done for the PaleyFest panel this year, as well as my copies of the print I did for Greg Simkins INLE show at Gallery1988. Both are 12×24 screenprints. They should be in the store around 2-3PM EST. One of each per person per address.  Sorry for the short notice, but I was distracted with the events of the last few days (see below), the news of this past night (see anywhere on the internet), and for some reason I can’t seem to log into my Announce-List service. hmm.

in unrelated news…

…as I’ve mentioned a few times in the past, I play in a few different bands and I’m just full of bad ideas. One of which is known as IDNOCLIP, which is both a band and a bad idea. For the last many moons, myself and a handful of folk have been working on a music video film project which has taken up a considerable amount of our time and money and brains. I will let the video above and the photos below do the explaining of what that is.

Given music videos are something that have absolutely no financial return, and this concept involves the literal destruction of many things that cost money and time to construct, plus a considerable amount of backend production/transportation/etc work & costs, we decided to start a Kickstarter site to help fund the project. Kickstarter being a group-funding site for creative projects where people offer incentives to internet folk for helping them fund their idea, while keeping them updated on progress and such through the site. If you like the idea of a giant burning guitar in a field and think this is something you’d like to help us create then awesome, chip in and we’ll send you some cool things in the mail. If not, no big deal, you can still see it anyways, because were putting it on the internet regardless of if our project reaches its funding goal. Our stated goal represents roughly the amount of money weve put into this so far (between all the production work, construction, gear, filming, food, transportation, props, costumes, etc), the amount of money well need to complete it (editing, color correcting, tweaking), and the amount of money needed to produce the finished physical copies. Any money beyond the goal will go into further fine tuning and editing, and our next video project (already being roughed out).
