recently, fellow gigposter artist Ryan August was killed in a car accident, leaving behind his wife and young son. Ryan and his wife headed the I Want Your Skull zine and website..

“On Saturday, July 11th… my husband, Ryan August, and our son Declan were in a car accident on their way home from Atlanta. They were driving through a storm when Ryan’s car left the road and struck a tree. Declan, secured in his car seat, made it through with minor cuts and bruises. Ryan died on impact. Ryan was a wonderful husband and the most devoted father I have ever seen. I cannot not begin to imagine our lives without him….”

in all honestly, i had a strange relationship with ryan. we never quite saw eye to eye and bickered quite a bit over the years, as opinionated people do. when i heard the news my heart sank, and any resentment between us i allowed to exist became instantly meaningless, forgotten, and trivial compared to the gravity of the situation at hand. all i could think of his family and the awful tragedy handed to them. i wish a lot of things had been very different. regardless, were both members of a community that has always supported and cared for each other, and above everything else, people are supposed to take care of one other.

that being said, ryans family is in need of financial help after everything thats happened. i dug through my flatfiles and pulled out a few prints im going to auction as a lot, and donate said money to his family to help with expenses current and future.

included are…

-”please don’t worry, when i wake up ill be something new” 1st edition AP.
-”i’d have built this place for you.” AP
-”i looked all night, im sorry hon but i dont believe it wants to be found anymore.

bids for the set of three prints can be left in the comments of this post. just leave your name and contact email and bid. ill leave this running until i get back from LA, so roughly august 6th. also, be sure to check out some of the threads on gigposters.com for other information and benefits happening. if you can help, please help.

This is so sad, that poor little baby without a father. I’ll have to keep my eye out for regular donation as the bids are already out of budget. I’ll send this link around as I can though.
